Ghia Griess grew up spending time in the water; from the few lakes in Nebraska at her Grandparents cabin to living on the lakes of Minnesota: swimming, boating, fishing, waterskiing and jet skiing was a part of her family life.  Moving to Massachusetts to in 2001 having the ocean right in my “backyard” is just another confirmation that being near the water is important to Ghia. Yoga has been a part of her life for so long that it is just a part of her now, something that always keeps her mind and body in balance.  Ghia graduated from Open Doors RYT200 yoga teacher training in June 2018. Yoga is a slow burn where every day the practice is never the same, and it is always evolving to obtain a lifelong practice. Ghia teaches this in her teaching style, where she guides students through yoga to create a space of mindfulness and ease in the yoga practice to promote and  create a yoga relationship that can be maintained throughout one’s life. SUP was introduced to her by a friend and immediately fell in love with the openness and the idea of floating on the water giving that relaxation of mind and body on the water. Combining SUP + Yoga is just a perfect combination for Ghia.

Overall health and wellness have always been a passion for Amy Williams. Amy dove into her own yoga practice while in graduate school for Counseling Psychology, where she discovered how beneficial yoga was in maintaining her own wellbeing. After completing her Master’s degree, Amy hopped right into bCalm Power Yoga’s 200 hour Yoga Alliance Teacher Training program in Hopkinton, fulfilling a longtime goal of pursuing a career related to both mental and physical health and wellness.

Amy found the physical yoga practice a way to reconnect the mind with the body, helping to be more present and move fluidly both on and off the mat. Amy led an active lifestyle from a young age, starting with ballet as a child. Following her first yoga teacher training, Amy completed two BarSculpt trainings, allowing her to connect with her roots and diversify her teaching to both yoga and barre. Amy went on to complete Unstoppable: Yoga for Youth Training Program and most recently, SUP YO teacher training, with the goal of uniting her love of nature and yoga through teaching SUP Yoga in the warmer New England weather. Off the mat, Amy works full time as a mental health therapist. You might also catch Amy out on her SUP board, on the trails with her husband and Plott Hound, Carl, and checking out local craft breweries.

Ally Marsh was introduced to yoga while an undergrad in Vermont. She eventually settled in Boston and began professional training which culminated in a Master’s level licensed mental health counselor specializing in expressive therapies.  She began using art, music and movement to aid others through mental health difficulties and found the integral benefits of yoga for her own self care as well as for the benefit of others.  Yoga is the perfect balance for connection to the mind, body, and mindful awareness of that relationship.  She was further inspired to expand her yogic path while working on a women’s mental health unit and took a leave to become trained as a 200-RYT, certified in Vinyasa Flow Yoga. The training in Costa Rica under the teachings of Jacqueline Heisle, incorporated the physical, emotional, and combined whole self approach to self improvement.  Ally was introduced to SUP yoga while attending a Yoga Festival in 2012 and was forever inspired to experience SUP yoga locally and internationally.  She is excited to share her love of incorporating the senses within nature (sound, scent, and sight) along with the movement, breath and intension of yoga off the mat.  She creates a setting of nourishing comfort balanced with challenge and encourages students to set a heartfelt intention and then allow yoga to literally “float” to that space.

Jennifer Fernald is a Certified Yoga Instructor and SUP Yoga Instructor. As an agile leader and cloud transformation evangelist for a Fortune 100 company, Jennifer balances the pressure and a sense of urgency to quickly and continuously deliver new product features with a daily yoga practice that helps her remain grounded in the present moment. She finds yoga helps clear her mind and recharge her batteries. As her love for yoga has grown over the years, Jen realized she wanted to share its many benefits with others, which ultimately led to her decision to become a yoga instructor. Lifelong learning, teaching, and transformation are a few of Jen’s many passions. While on vacation in the British Virgin Islands in 2011, Jen rented a paddleboard for the first time and fell in love with the experience. When she returned home, Jen went straight to the surf shop and bought her first board and started practicing yoga on it.

In May, 2016, Jen graduated from Symmetry Yoga’s RYT200 yoga teacher training program and registered with the Yoga Alliance. She immediately started teaching all levels of Vinyasa Flow yoga at Symmetry Yoga. Within weeks of earning her teaching certification, Jen taught her first SUP yoga class on Pawtuckaway Lake in Nottingham, NH, where she calls home. She taught all summer long and that winter traveled to Miami for SUP YO teacher training. Jennifer now teaches for SUP YO on the NH Seacoast.
